What equipment do I need?
If you are new to walking our lowland walks can be done without any expensive equipment or clothing. You will need good walking footwear with grip. Boots for wet days would be best and trainers are possible for the summer season. You can source clothing from home but will need at least two layers, a raincoat (It's Britain!) and hat/gloves for colder days. Avoid denim and try to wear quick drying material. A small back pack with a plastic liner might be handy to contain snack/drink any medication/sun cream and camera.
If you need walking poles or other aid please bring them.

Can I bring my dog?
Generally well behaved and friendly dogs can be brought at the discretion of the walk leader and if the other walkers are comfortable with having a dog along. However some of our walks pass through farmland so on these walks dogs cannot be brought along. Ring for advice first for the walk you want to book.

How do I pay?
Payment in advance please at least 2 days prior to the walk. Cash or cheque (payable to P Hutchinson). The postal address will be given after booking. Don't post cash. You can also pay via bank electronic transfer, please ask for details. For our short 2 hour walks if you book a package of 5 walks in advance the cost reduces to £5 per walk. i.e. £25 instead of £30 equivalent. For bespoke walks and community groups please phone for payment arrangements and deadlines.
How far will I walk & do the walks have refreshments?
On a PH Guided Walk we place less emphasis on walking a fixed distance and more on the overall experience of the day out. Generally for a 2 hour walk expect to walk about 3 miles and for a 3 hour walk about 6 miles. For a full day walk you could walk up to about 10 miles...it's up to you how far you go. We walk at a comfortable pace for your enjoyment with rest stops. Walks include toilets and most have a tea shop or pub at the end, but please bring a snack/drink if you need it especially for 3hr+ walks.
